New leaders assume roles at Mayo Clinic trauma centers
The trauma centers at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, wish all our readers a happy new year, with thanks for your loyal following of the e-newsletter. We'd also like to take this opportunity to bring two trauma leadership changes to your attention.

Patient Care

Mayo transfer centers aid patients and providers
The Admission and Transfer Center and Emergency Communications Center at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, help ensure the timely transfer of seriously ill and injured patients. Physicians also are available 24/7 for consultations with referring providers.

Low-tech pediatric trauma simulations still powerful
Fancy equipment and state-of-the-art simulation centers aren't necessary for effective and powerful pediatric trauma simulations.

Most sledding injuries can be prevented
Each year, 25,000 people in the U.S. seek emergency care for sledding injuries, many of which are severe. Mayo's injury prevention coordinator says most can be prevented.
